I sing to Him, I sing praises to Him; I meditate on and talk of all His wondrous works and devoutly praise them! [1] I stand still and consider the wondrous works of Jahuwah. [2]   I make the voice of thanksgiving heard and tell of all Jahuwah’s wondrous works. [3] O Jahuwah, You have taught me from my youth, and hitherto have I declared Your wondrous works. [4]   We give praise and thanks to You, O Jahuwah, we praise and give thanks; Your wondrous works declare that Your Name is near and they who invoke Your Name rehearse Your wonders. [5] I believe on, rely on, and adhere to Him for His wondrous works. [6] I understand the way of Your precepts; so I meditate on and talk of Your wondrous works. [7] On the glorious splendor of Your majesty and Your wondrous works I put forth, speak, sing, study and ponder. [8] I proclaim loudly, with forcefulness of expression and intensity of emotion, Jahuwah 's mighty acts; I broadcast all his praises. [9]

Psalm 78 A skillful song, or a didactic or reflective poem, of Asaph.

1 Because I am one of Jahuwah’s people, I give ear to His teaching; I incline my ears to the words of His mouth. 2 He opens His mouth in parables; He utters dark sayings of old that hide important truth--3 Which I have heard and known, and my fathers have told me. 4 I do not hide them from my children. I tell of the praiseworthy deeds of Jahuwah, and His might, and the wonderful works that He has performed.

5 For He established express precepts in Jacob and appointed a law in Yisra’el, commanding me that I should make the great facts of Jahuwah's dealings with Yisra’el known. 6 That the generation to come might know them, that the children still to be born might arise and recount them to their children, 7 That they might set their hope in Jahuwah and not forget the works of Jahuwah, but might keep His commandments 8 And might not be as their fathers--a stubborn and rebellious generation, a generation that set not their hearts aright nor prepared their hearts to know Jahuwah, and whose spirits were not steadfast and faithful to Jahuwah. 9 The children of Ephraim were armed and carrying bows, yet they turned back in the day of battle. 10 They kept not the covenant of Jahuwah and refused to walk according to His law and forgot His works and His wonders that He had shown them. 12 Marvelous things did He in the sight of their fathers in the land of Egypt, in the field of Zoan where Pharaoh resided.

13 He divided the Red Sea and caused them to pass through it, and He made the waters stand like a heap. 14 In the daytime also He led them with a pillar of cloud and all the night with a light of fire. 15 He split rocks in the wilderness and gave them drink abundantly as out of the deep. 16 He brought streams also out of the rock at Rephidim, a resting place, and Kadesh, a consecrated place, and caused waters to run down like rivers.

17 Yet they still went on to go on a way that was against Him by rebelling and being disobedient against the Most High in the wilderness; the land of drought. 18 And they tempted Jahuwah in their hearts by asking for food according to their selfish desire and appetite. 19 Yes, they spoke against Jahuwah; they said, Can Jahuwah furnish the food for a table in the wilderness? 20 Behold, He did smite the rock so that waters gushed out and the streams overflowed; but can He give bread also? Can He provide flesh for His people?

21 Therefore, when Jahuwah heard, He was full of wrath; a fire was kindled against Jacob, His anger mounted up against Yisra’el, 22 because they relied not on Him; they adhered not to Him and they trusted not in Jahuwah’s salvation; His power to save in every aspect.

23 Yet He commanded the clouds above and opened the doors of heaven; 24 And He rained down upon them manna to eat and gave them heaven's grain. 25 Everyone ate the bread of the mighty; angels' food; Jahuwah sent them meat in abundance. 26 He let forth the east wind to blow in the heavens, and by His power He guided the south wind. 27 He rained flesh also upon them like the dust, and winged birds like the sand of the seas. 28 And He let the birds fall in the midst of their camp, round about their tents. 29 So they ate and were well filled; He gave them what they craved and lusted after. 30 But scarce had they stilled their craving, and while their meat was yet in their mouths, 31 The wrath of Jahuwah came upon them and slew the strongest and sturdiest of them and smote down Yisra’el's chosen youth.

32 In spite of all this, they sinned still more, for they relied not on and adhered not to Him for His wondrous works. 33 Therefore their days He consumed like a breath in emptiness, falsity, and futility and their years in terror and sudden haste. 34 When He slew some of them, the remainder inquired after Him diligently, and they repented and sincerely sought Jahuwah for a time. 35 And they earnestly remembered that Jahuwah was their Rock, and the Most High was their Redeemer. 36 Nevertheless they flattered Him with their mouths and lied to Him with their tongues. 37 For their hearts were not right or sincere with Him, neither were they faithful and steadfast to His covenant. 38 But He, full of merciful compassion, forgave their iniquity and destroyed them not; yes, many a time He turned His anger away and did not stir up all His wrath and indignation.

39 For He [earnestly] remembered that they were but flesh, a wind that goes and does not return. 40 How often they defied and rebelled against Him in the wilderness and grieved Him in the desert! 41 And time and again they turned back and tempted Jahuwah, provoking and incensing the Set-Apart One of Yisra’el.

42 They remembered not seriously the miracles of the working of His hand [10] , nor the day when He delivered them from the enemy, 43 How He wrought His miracles in Egypt and His wonders in the field of Zoan where Pharaoh resided 44 And turned their rivers into blood, and their streams, so that they could not drink from them. 45 He sent swarms of venomous flies among them which devoured them, and frogs which destroyed them. 46 He gave also their crops to the caterpillar and the fruit of their labor to the locust. 47 He destroyed their vines with hail and their sycamore trees with frost and great chunks of ice. 48 He caused them to shut up their cattle or gave them up also to the hail and their flocks to hot thunderbolts. 49 He let loose upon them the fierceness of His anger, His wrath and indignation and distress, by sending a mission of angels of calamity and woe [11] among them.

50 He leveled and made a straight path [12] for His anger to give it free course [13] ; He did not spare the Egyptian families from death but gave their beasts over to the pestilence and the life of their eldest over to the plague. 51 He smote all the firstborn in Egypt, the chief of their strength in the tents of the land of the sons of Ham.

52 But [Jahuwah] led His own people forth like sheep and guided them with a shepherd's care like a flock in the wilderness. 53 And He led them on safely and in confident trust, so that they feared not; but the sea overwhelmed their enemies. 54 And He brought them to His set-apart border, the border of Canaan His sanctuary, even to Mount Tsion which His right hand had acquired.

55 He drove out the nations also before Yisra’el and allotted their land as a heritage, measured out and partitioned; and He made the tribes of Yisra’el to dwell in the tents of those dispossessed. 56 Yet they tempted and provoked and rebelled against the Most High Mighty One and kept not His testimonies. 57 But they turned back and dealt covertly and fraudulently like their fathers; they were twisted like a warped and deceitful bow that will not respond to the archer's aim; they let down and relaxed their hands. 58 For they provoked Him to righteous anger with their high places for idol worship and moved Him to jealousy with their graven images. 59 When Jahuwah heard this, He was full of wrath; and He utterly rejected Yisra’el, greatly abhorring and loathing her ways, 60 So that He forsook the tabernacle at Shiloh, the tent in which He had dwelt among men and never returned to it again, 61 And delivered His strength and power, the Ark of the Covenant, into captivity, and His glory into the hands of the Philistines.

62 He gave His people over also to the sword and was wroth with His heritage; Yisra’el. 63 The fire of war devoured their young men, and their bereaved virgins were not praised in a wedding song. 64 Their priests, Hophni and Phinehas, fell by the sword, and their widows made no lamentation for the bodies came not back from the scene of battle, and the widow of Phinehas also died that day.

65 Then Jahuwah awakened as from sleep, as a strong man whose consciousness of power is heightened by wine. 66 And He smote His adversaries in the back as they fled; He put them to lasting shame and reproach. 67 Moreover, He rejected the tent of Joseph and chose not the tribe of Ephraim in which the tabernacle had been accustomed to stand. 68 But He chose the tribe of Judah as Yisra’el's leader, Mount Tsion, which He loved to replace Shiloh as His capital. 69 And He built His Set-Apart Tabernacle exalted like the heights of the heavens and like the earth which He established forever.

70 He chose me as His servant and took me from Babylon; 71 From a secular job He brought me to be the shepherd of Jacob His people, of Yisra’el His inheritance. 72 So I am their shepherd with an upright heart; I lead them forth by the understanding, discernment, comprehension and skillfulness which controls my hands.

Daniel 2

Blessed be the name of Jahuwah forever and ever! For wisdom and might are His! 21 He changes the times and the seasons; He removes kings and sets up kings. He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding!

22 He reveals the deep and secret things; He knows what is in the darkness, and the light dwells with Him! 23 I thank You and praise You, O Mighty One of my fathers, Who has given me wisdom and might and has made known to me now what I desired of You, for You have made known to me the solution to my problems.

Psalm 106

1 Hallelujah! Thank JAHUWAH! And why? Because he's good, because his love lasts.

3 I’m advancing, making progress and moving straight on because I do what is right, I form the habit of justice. 4 Remember me, Jahuwah, when you enjoy your people; include me when you save them; 5 I want to see your chosen succeed, celebrate with your celebrating nation, join the Hallelujahs of your pride and joy!

6 We've sinned a lot, both we and our parents; We've fallen short, hurt a lot of people. 7 After our parents left Egypt, they took your wonders for granted, forgot your great and wonderful love. They were barely beyond the Red Sea when they defied the High Mighty One 8 -the very place he saved them! -the place he revealed his amazing power! 9 He rebuked the Red Sea so that it dried up on the spot -he paraded them right through! -no one so much as got wet feet! 10 He saved them from a life of oppression, pried them loose from the grip of the enemy. 11 Then the waters flowed back on their oppressors; there wasn't a single survivor.

12 Then they believed his words were true and broke out in songs of praise. 13 But it wasn't long before they forgot the whole thing and wouldn't wait to be told what to do. 14 They only cared about pleasing themselves in that desert, provoked Jahuwah with their insistent demands. 15 He gave them exactly what they asked for-- but along with it they got an empty heart.

16 One day in camp some grew jealous of Moshè, also of Aaron, Set-Apart priest of Jahuwah.

17 The ground opened and swallowed Dathan, then buried Abiram's gang. 18 Fire flared against that rebel crew and torched them to a cinder.

19 They cast in metal a bull calf at Horeb and worshiped the statue they'd made. 20 They traded the Splendour for a cheap piece of sculpture--a grass-chewing bull! 21 They forgot Jahuwah, their very own Savior, who turned things around in Egypt, 22 Who created a world of wonders in the Land of Ham, who gave that stunning performance at the Red Sea.

23 Fed up, Jahuwah decided to get rid of them-- and except for Moshè, his chosen, he would have. But Moshè stood in the gap and deflected Jahuwah's anger, prevented it from destroying them utterly. 24 They went on to reject the Blessed Land, didn't believe a word of what Jahuwah promised.

25 They found fault with the life they had

and turned a deaf ear to Jahuwah’s voice. 26 Exasperated, Jahuwah swore that he'd lay them low in the desert, 27 scattering their children hither and yon, strewing them all over the earth.

28 Then they linked up with Baal Peor, attending funeral banquets and eating idol food. 29 That made Jahuwah so angry that a plague spread through their ranks; 30 Phinehas stood up and pled their case and the plague was stopped. 31 This was counted to his credit; his descendants will never forget it.

32 They angered Jahuwah again at Meribah Springs; this time Moshè got mixed up in their evil; 33 because they defied Jahuwah yet again, Moshè exploded and lost his temper.

34 They didn't wipe out those unrighteous cultures as ordered by Jahuwah; 35 Instead they intermarried with the heathen, and in time became just like them. 36 They worshiped their idols, were caught in the trap of idols. [14] 37 They sacrificed their sons and daughters at the altars of demon gods. 38 They slit the throats of their babies, murdered their infant girls and boys. They offered their babies to Canaan's gods; the blood of their babies stained the land.

39 Their way of life stank to high heaven; they lived like whores. 40 And Jahuwah was furious--a wildfire anger; he couldn't stand even to look at his people. 41 He turned them over to the heathen so that the people who hated them ruled them. 42 Their enemies made life hard for them; they were tyrannized under that rule. 43 Over and over Jahuwah rescued them, but they never learned-- until finally their sins destroyed them.

44 Still, when Jahuwah saw the trouble they were in and heard their cries for help, 45 He remembered his Covenant with them, and, immense with love, took them by the hand.

46 He poured out his mercy on them while their captors looked on, amazed. 47 Save us, Jahuwah, our Mighty One! Gather us back out of exile So we can give thanks to your Set-Apart name and join in the glory when you are praised!

48 Blessed be Jahuwah, Yisra’el's Mighty One! Bless now, bless always! Oh! Let everyone say let it be so! Hallelujah!

Psalm 145

13 Jahuwah’s kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and His dominion endures throughout all generations.

14 Jahuwah upholds all those of His own who are falling and raises up all those who are bowed down.

15 The eyes of all wait for Jahuwah looking, watching, and expecting and He gives them their food in due season. 16 He opens His hand and satisfies every living thing with favor.

17 Jahuwah is [rigidly] righteous in all His ways and gracious and merciful in all His works. 18 Jahuwah is near to me when I call upon Him, to all who call upon Him sincerely and in truth. 19 He fulfills the desires of those who reverently and worshipfully fear Him; He also will hear their cry and will save them. 20 Jahuwah preserves me because I show my love for Him by obeying His commandments, but all the wicked He destroys.

Luke 1

49 My mouth shall speak the praise of Jahuwah; and let all flesh bless affectionately and gratefully praise His set-apart name forever and ever.

50 His mercy flows in wave after wave on those who are in awe before him. 51 He bared his arm and showed his strength, scattered the bluffing braggarts. 52 He knocked tyrants off their high horses, pulled victims out of the mud.

53 The starving poor sat down to a banquet; the callous rich were left out in the cold.

54 He embraced his chosen child, Yisra’el; he remembered and piled on the mercies, piled

them high. 55 It's exactly what he promised, beginning with Abraham and right up to now.

68 Blessed be Jahuwah, the Mighty One of Yisra’el; he came and set his people free. 69 He set the power of salvation in the center of our lives, and in the very house of David his servant, 70 Just as he promised long ago through the preaching of his set-apart prophets: 71 Deliverance from our enemies and every hateful hand; 72 Mercy to our fathers, as he remembers to do what he said he'd do, 73 What he swore to our father Abraham—74 a clean rescue from the enemy camp, so we can worship him without a care in the world, 75 made set-apart before him as long as we live.

77 Present the offer of salvation to his people, the forgiveness of their sins. 78 Through the heartfelt mercies of our Mighty One, Jahuwah’s Light Rising will break in upon us, 79 shining on those in the darkness, those sitting in the shadow of death, then showing us the way, one foot at a time, down the path of peace.

2 Samuel 7

4 But that night, the word of Jahuwah came to Nathan saying, 5 "Go and tell my servant David: This is Jahuwah's word on the matter: You're going to build a "house' for me to live in? 6 Why, I haven't lived in a "house' from the time I brought the children of Yisra’el up from Egypt till now. All that time I've moved about with nothing but a tent. 7 And in all my travels with Yisra’el, did I ever say to any of the leaders I commanded to shepherd Yisra’el, "Why haven't you built me a house of cedar?'

8 "So here is what you are to tell my servant David: Jahuwah the Commander-of-the-Angel-Armies has this word for you: I took you from the pasture, tagging along after sheep, and made you prince over my people Yisra’el. 9 I was with you everywhere you went and mowed your enemies down before you. Now I'm making you famous, to be ranked with the great names on earth. 10 And I'm going to set aside a place for my people Yisra’el and plant them there so they'll have their own home and not be knocked around any more. Nor will evil men afflict you as they always have, 11 even during the days I set judges over my people Yisra’el. Finally, I'm going to give you peace from all your enemies.

"Furthermore, Jahuwah has this message for you: Jahuwah himself will build you a house! 12 When your life is complete and you're buried with your ancestors, then I'll raise up your child, your own flesh and blood, to succeed you, and I'll firmly establish his rule. 13 He will build a house to honor me, and I will guarantee his kingdom's rule permanently. 14 I'll be a father to him, and he'll be a son to me. When he does wrong, I'll discipline him in the usual ways, the pitfalls and obstacles of this mortal life. 15 But I'll never remove my gracious love from him, as I removed it from Saul, who preceded you and whom I most certainly did remove. 16 Your family and your kingdom are permanently secured. I'm keeping my eye on them! And your royal throne will always be there, rock solid."

Job 5

9 Jahuwah is famous for great and unexpected acts; there's no end to his surprises.

10 He gives rain, for instance, across the wide earth, sends water to irrigate the fields. 11 He raises up the down-and-out, gives firm footing to those sinking in grief.

12 He aborts the schemes of conniving crooks, so that none of their plots come to term. 13 He catches the know-it--alls in their conspiracies-- all that intricate intrigue swept out with the trash! 14 Suddenly they're disoriented, plunged into darkness; they can't see to put one foot in front of the other.

15 But the downtrodden are saved by Jahuwah, saved from the murderous plots, saved from the iron fist. 16 And so the poor continue to hope, while injustice is bound and gagged.

17 "So, what a blessing when Jahuwah steps in and corrects you! Mind you, don't despise the discipline of Almighty Jahuwah! 18 True, he wounds, but he also dresses the wound; the same hand that hurts you, heals you.

19 From one disaster after another he delivers you; no matter what the calamity, the evil can't touch you-- 20 "In famine, he'll keep you from starving, in war, from being gutted by the sword. 21 You'll be protected from vicious gossip and live fearless through any catastrophe. 22 You'll shrug off disaster and famine, and stroll fearlessly among wild animals. 23 You'll be on good terms with rocks and mountains; wild animals will become your good friends.

24 You'll know that your place on earth is safe, you'll look over your goods and find nothing amiss. 25 You'll see your children grow up, your family lovely and lissome as orchard grass. 26 You'll arrive at your grave ripe with many good years, like sheaves of golden grain at harvest.

27 "Yes, this is the way things are--my word of honor! Take it to heart and you won't go wrong."

Jawshar 58:17-23

And all this people assembled and came unto Seir to assist the children of Esau in their battle, and this camp was very large and heavy with people, numerous as the sand of the sea, about eight hundred thousand men, infantry and cavalry, and all these troops went down to Egypt to fight with the sons of Jacob, and they encamped by Rameses.

And Joseph went forth with his brethren with the mighty men of Egypt, about six hundred men, and they fought with them in the land of Rameses; and the sons of Jacob at that time again fought with the children of Esau, in the fiftieth year of the sons of Jacob going down to Egypt, that is the thirtieth year of the reign of Bela over the children of Esau in Seir.

And the Lord gave all the mighty men of Esau and the children of the east into the hand of Joseph and his brethren, and the people of the children of Esau and the children of the east were smitten before Joseph.

And of the people of Esau and the children of the east that were slain, there fell before the sons of Jacob about two hundred thousand men, and their king Bela the son of Beor fell with them in the battle, and when the children of Esau saw that their king had fallen in battle and was dead, their hands became weak in the combat.

And Joseph and his brethren and all Egypt were still smiting the people of the house of Esau, and all Esau's people were afraid of the sons of Jacob and fled from before them.

And Joseph and his brethren and all Egypt pursued them a day's journey, and they slew yet from them about three hundred men, continuing to smite them in the road; and they afterward turned back from them.

And Joseph and all his brethren returned to Egypt, not one man was missing from them, but of the Egyptians there fell twelve men.

Jawshar 77:29-37

Zipporah said to her father Reuel, No person inquires or seeks after the Hebrew man, whom you did bind in prison now ten years.

Now therefore, if it seem good in your sight, let us send and see whether he is living or dead, but her father knew not that she had supported him.

And Reuel her father answered and said to her, Has ever such a thing happened that a man should be shut up in a prison without food for ten years, and that he should live?

And Zipporah answered her father, saying, Surely you have heard that the Mighty One of the Hebrews is great and awful, and does wonders for them at all times.

He it was who delivered Abraham from Ur of the Chaldeans, and Isaac from the sword of his father, and Jacob from the angel of Jahuwah who wrestled with him at the ford of Jabbuk.

Also with this man has he done many things, he delivered him from the river in Egypt and from the sword of Pharaoh, and from the children of Cush, so also can he deliver him from famine and make him live.

And the thing seemed good in the sight of Reuel, and he did according to the word of his daughter, and sent to the dungeon to ascertain what became of Moshe`.

And he saw, and behold the man Moses was living in the dungeon, standing upon his feet, praising and praying to the Mighty One of his ancestors.

And Reuel commanded Moshe` to be brought out of the dungeon, so they shaved him and he changed his prison garments and ate bread.

Jawshar (Jasher: pronounced Yawshar) 89:1-22

Then spoke Joshua this song, on the day that Jahuwah had given the Amorites into the hand of Joshua and the children of Yisra’el, and he said in the sight of all Yisra’el,

You have done mighty things, O Jahuwah, you have performed great deeds; who is like unto you? my lips shall sing to your name.

My goodness and my fortress, my high tower, I sing a new song unto you, with thanksgiving I sing to you, you art the strength of my salvation.

All the kings of the earth shall praise you, the princes of the world shall sing to you, the children of Yisra’el shall rejoice in your salvation, they shall sing and praise your power.

To you, O Jahuwah, did we confide; we said you art our Might Creator, for you are our shelter and strong tower against our enemies.

To you we cried and were not ashamed, in you we trusted and were delivered; when we cried unto you, you did hear our voice, you did deliver our souls from the sword, you did show unto us your grace, you did give unto us your salvation, you did rejoice our hearts with your strength.

You did go forth for our salvation, with your arm you did redeem your people; you did answer us from the heavens of your holiness, you did save us from ten thousands of people.

The sun and moon stood still in heaven, and you did stand in your wrath against our oppressors and did command your judgments over them.

All the princes of the earth stood up, the kings of the nations had gathered themselves together, they were not moved at your presence, they desired your battles.

You did rise against them in your anger, and did bring down your wrath upon them; you did destroy them in your anger, and cut them off in your heart.

Nations have been consumed with your fury, kingdoms have declined because of your wrath, you did wound kings in the day of your anger.

You did pour out your fury upon them, your wrathful anger took hold of them; you did turn their iniquity upon them, and did cut them off in their wickedness.

They did spread a trap, they fell therein, in the net they hid, their foot was caught.

Your hand was ready for all your enemies who said, Through their sword they possessed the land, through their arm they dwelt in the city; you did fill their faces with shame, you did bring their horns down to the ground, you did terrify them in your wrath, and did destroy them in your anger.

The earth trembled and shook at the sound of your storm over them, you did not withhold their souls from death, and did bring down their lives to the grave.

You did pursue them in your storm, you did consume them in your whirlwind, you did turn their rain into hail, they fell in deep pits so that they could not rise.

Their carcasses were like rubbish cast out in the middle of the streets.

They were consumed and destroyed in your anger, you did save your people with your might.

Therefore our hearts rejoice in you, our souls exalt in your salvation.

Our tongues shall relate your might, we will sing and praise your wondrous works.

For you did save us from our enemies, you did deliver us from those who rose up against us, you did destroy them from before us and depress them beneath our feet.

Thus shall all your enemies perish O Jahuwah, and the wicked shall be like chaff driven by the wind, and your beloved shall be like trees planted by the waters.

[10] We must seriously call to remembrance the workings and miracles of Jahuwah! That’s what this prayer is about.

[11] These angels will work for us today if we will meet the requirements.

[12] This is the same as making a paved highway. Strong’s H#6424 (paw-las')-To level by rolling a cylinder up and down.

[13] When Jahuwah makes our path level and straight it gives us “free course.”

[14] Idols are a snare that the righteous can be caught in.
